Relax and simply be yourself on a first date if you want it to go well.
You’ll probably split up and get hurt if you act in a way you think the other person will like and it doesn’t work. If you are just being yourself and it doesn’t work out, you will know that person wasn’t the one for you.
Dating is similar to playing poker; a solid bluff could help you win one or two games, but you won’t win the World Series of Poker by bluffing; you’ll need to play your best. If you make stuff up to try and impress this person, they won’t like the real you; instead, they’ll like the false you, and soon they’ll realize the two are not the same. This is similar to courting.
When choosing where to take your date, remember the topics you discussed when you were on the phone and consider what you learned. However, if you don’t know them well enough to predict their preferences, you may occasionally have to take a chance, roll the dice, and hope you don’t lose.
The most crucial thing on a first date is enjoying yourself; if you make a big deal out of it, it will be difficult, and you’ll likely come off as rude. Take a few deep breaths if you’re feeling anxious before the date. If that doesn’t work, I suggest you do what I like to do in casinos when I’m feeling anxious: just have a drink. One drink generally makes me feel relaxed enough to concentrate.
First date tip: Be loud enough to hear each other but not too loud. Before the date, it is crucial to have the entire evening and a backup plan. Other diversions are also helpful for those awkward moments. Don’t take them to a spot where your pals hang out since they might feel like they’re being picked on or feel uncomfortable and resent you for it.
Let’s assume you decide to take her out to dinner. It is tricky to make it appear as though it was not entirely planned. I advise you to wait until after dinner and then ask her if she wants to go for a walk to work off the meal before taking her to the beach. If you decide you’d like to walk on the beach afterward, don’t just say, “Hey, after dinner, let’s walk on the beach.”
Next, hold their hand while you walk along the shore. This creates a physical connection between you and makes it simpler later on when you decide to share your first kiss. Remember that dating is similar to gambling in that you will occasionally be dealt a lousy hand, but if you play your cards well, you will eventually discover the ideal person and hit the jackpot.
